THE REAL COST

Why Waiting Costs You More:

According to data from the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA), heating and air conditioning together account for roughly half of the energy used in a typical American home. Worse, federal rules phasing down older refrigerants (like R-410A) are making refrigerant and repair parts for aging systems more expensive and harder to find.

Energy Drain: According to the U.S. Department of Energy, replacing a central air conditioner more than 10 years old with a high-efficiency model can cut cooling energy use by 20–40% — money an older system is wasting every season.

Indoor Air Hazard: The EPA reports that indoor levels of some pollutants can be 2 to 5 times higher than outdoors — and leaky ductwork keeps recirculating dust, humidity, and allergens through every room.

The Maintenance Trap: Pouring emergency repair money into phased-out equipment is a diminishing return. Upgrading to high-efficiency, low-GWP systems protects you from skyrocketing refrigerant costs.

OUR APPROACH

The Solution:

We perform comprehensive load calculations and air quality audits to restore peak system efficiency, lower your monthly utility bills, and make sure your indoor air is clean and safe year-round.

WHAT WE DO

HOW IT WORKS

The DES Group Service Process

A clear path from the first photo to the final check — so you always know what is happening, and why.

1

Tell Us What's Wrong

Call us or send the request form below. Upload a few photos of the problem — a stain, a leaking fitting, the label on your furnace or water heater, a damaged patch of roof — so we can see it before we arrive.

2

Diagnose Before We Quote

We measure first: water pressure, moisture, airflow, temperatures, the condition of the materials. The quote is based on what is actually happening in your home, not on a guess from the doorway.

3

Clear Options, In Writing

You get what we found and what we recommend — including repair versus replacement where that’s the question — explained in plain language, with the price, before any work begins.

4

Do the Work, Then Test It

We complete the job, test it, clean up after ourselves and walk you through what was done, so you know the system is working before we leave.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Questions, Honestly Answered

Once a year per system is the usual recommendation — the cooling side in spring before the heat arrives, the heating side in fall before the first cold snap. A heat pump does both jobs, so it benefits from a check before each season. Regular tune-ups are the cheapest way to keep efficiency up and catch small problems early.

It depends on the age of the system, how often it has failed, and what the repair costs compared with a new, more efficient unit. As a rule of thumb, if the system is more than 10–15 years old and the repair is a large share of the cost of replacement, replacing usually makes more sense. We show you the numbers for your system either way.

Under the EPA’s AIM Act rules, new home air conditioners and heat pumps are moving to lower-GWP refrigerants such as R-454B and R-32. Existing R-410A systems can still be repaired and recharged, but production of R-410A is being phased down, which tends to push its price up over time. If your system is old and needs a major refrigerant repair, it’s worth comparing that cost with a new low-GWP system.

A load calculation to confirm your equipment is correctly sized for your home, checks of airflow and ductwork for leaks, and an assessment of indoor air quality — dust, humidity and allergens — followed by clear recommendations and prices.

Yes. A ductless mini-split pairs an outdoor unit with one or more wall-mounted indoor units, so it can heat and cool additions, garages, finished attics and older homes without ducts — and each zone gets its own temperature control.

Tell Us What's Going On

Describe the problem and upload a few photos — a ceiling stain, a leaking connection, the data plate on your furnace or water heater, a damaged section of roof. Photos help us diagnose faster and arrive with the right parts.

For an emergency — an active leak, no heat, no cooling — call us instead of filling in the form. We offer 24/7 emergency response.
